Common Ficus Tree - Ficus Racemosa

Nicknamed the “Cluster Fig,” the Ficus Racemosa is widely known for its aid in the healing methods of Ayurveda; an ancient Indian system of preventive health care. (The name means “knowledge of life.”) According to this system, bodily health is determined by three biological principles, called doshas: Vata, which regulates movement; Pitta, which regulates metabolism; and Kapha, which regulates structure.. The ficus racemosa is also used in the Unani system of medicine; Unani medicine is very close to Ayurveda. Both are based on theory of the presence of the elements (in Unani, they are considered to be fire, water, earth and air) in the human body. (The elements, attributed to the philosopher Empedocles, determined the way of thinking in medieval Europe).
